I've entered the world of
sudoku, thanks to a coworker who told me to bring a pencil to lunch. For those who haven't seen/tried it yet (you may have seen other people doing it); you get a grid 9x9. In the grid are 9 3x3 grids. The goal of the puzzle is to fill in the numbers 1-9 in such a way that each full row, each full column, and each 3x3 grid, contain each and every number, once and only once. The game provides existing fixed numbers that help get you started.
We first tackled one generated by sudokoassistant.com, but felt it was too hard. We got moving much quicker on the one from sudoku.com, though we still didn't finish it within 30 minutes (and lunchtime ended). I think a few more puzzles and I'll get the 'tricks' down, and these could be enjoyable on the train rides to and from work.
As it is, my unfinished one will be looking at me from my desk for the rest of the day, with only 4 more 3x3's to finish up.
